About the Route
Officially, the route starts in Felixstowe, to go east towards Felixstowe Ferry and the coast. Cross the River Deben by foot (& bike) ferry to continue on to the village of Alderton and Orford, crossing the River Butley along the way.
Cycle past Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings – a beautiful nature-rich area along the River Alde, with reedbeds, wet woodlands, and marshlands.
Heading north to Bruisyard, join National Cycle Network Route 1 to go southwest, past historic Framlingham Castle and the villages of Easton, Dallinghoo, and the town of Woodbridge, with its charming tide mill, marina and quay on the River Deben.
The final leg of the official route of the journey leads from Woodbridge back to Felixstowe, passing through the Felixstowe Peninsula villages of Waldringfield, Newbourne, and Kirton.
