Victorian Pillar Box (1856/7)

Framlingham has not just one, but two of mainland Britain’s earliest pillar boxes. Made by Hendy & Son of Derby, both are octagonal with a vertical, narrow posting flap. This one sits opposite the former Hare & Hounds pub; its sister is on the corner of Mount Pleasant / College Road.
