Tomb House (1703)

‘Garden House’ took on this new name after Thomas Mills’ death. A devout Baptist, it was his wish – and later his friend, William Mayhew’s wish too – to be buried in its garden. A tomb was built over their graves.

The riverside Railway Inn opposite is a reminder that this is Station Road …
