Visit Framlingham Trail

Framlingham Castle Bailey

Perhaps one of Framlingham’s best-loved, go-to green spaces. This grassy area to the west side of Framlingham Castle, within the ring of the deep ‘moat’ or earthworks, is home to first class views across the Mere towards the Hogwarts-style redbrick buildings of Framlingham College. Packed a picnic? Pick your spot and enjoy the view. There’s plenty of space for fun and games too.

The backdrop here is the ‘Castle on Hill’… where local lad and global pop icon, Ed Sheeran, enjoyed summer evening time-out with friends, memories of which he later set to music to share with the world.

Free to visit. On-site interpretation panels. Access via mainly unmade, steep footpaths.
