A moving museum in more ways than one!
You could say that The Lanman Museum has been round the (Framlingham) houses in its time… It all started out when Messers Lanman and Stannard shared Fram-related artefacts in a 1950s exhibition. This resulted in many donations and became the basis of a form of museum.
But it’s first home was not in Framlingham Castle, rather a premises on Market Hill. It then moved to Double Street. From June 1979, it was briefly displayed in the Court Room above Framlingham Library which is located in the Old Court House. It was finally moved to its present home in 1984.
The museum is run on professional lines, in close association with English Heritage and staffed by volunteers.
