Fen Meadow

A delightful green space with some impressive mature trees, and benches to relax or sit for a chat, at the south end of Framlingham. Located by the River Ore, Fen Meadow is lush grassland (seasonally wet in places as its name suggests!) that’s home to wild flowers and wildlife. Tarmacked and mown grass footpaths lead around the meadow.

Fen Meadow

Historically, Fen meadow saw livestock sales and horse fairs held here every year at Whitsun and Michaelmas. It’s sandwiched between Fairfield Road and Station Road – both names share a glimpse of Framlingham’s commercial past.

In recent years, the land has been gifted as a meadow and open green space for community use and the enjoyment of all.

The riverside hedgerow and time-honoured trees attract a wide array of birdlife, and their colourful leaves or berries make this place particularly attractive in the autumn and spring.
