Standing on a very historic spot at the entrance to Framlingham Castle, The Castle Inn is wonderfully located – a place to refresh, reflect and drink in the history. Beers include local Adnams Ales and Aspall Ciders, plus guest beers. There’s a tempting menu, welcoming atmosphere and live sport for those who just can’t miss that match! Charming 16th century coaching inn steeped in history, with exposed beams, wonky walls and squeaky floors. What’s more, the family-run Crown Hotel couldn’t be more at the heart of the community if it tried! Stay looking out over Market Hill perhaps, relax over a drink or bite to eat in the well-stocked bar, lounge or restaurant. Bedrooms are all individually styled; winter evenings see the fires lit in the lounge; there’s a function room for private dining or larger occasions, and outside tables for fine weather al fresco moments too. Definitely dog-friendly.

A long-established and locally much-loved place to watch Framlingham do its shopping, whilst you sip on a latte or enjoy a light bite inside or out. Serving light lunches, teas, smoothies, fresh orange juice, ciabatta and sour dough sandwiches, French-style tart, soup, salads and cakes. Vegetarian and gluten-free options. Ed Sheeran was taken with the place and even has a tattoo to prove it!

An invitingly traditional pub with a fine local reputation for its creative and local food, relaxed eat-al fresco wood-fired pizza kitchen and locally brewed beers. Often still referred to as The Station Hotel, it has been run as a pub since the 1950s (no rooms to let), but the building’s origins date back to the 19th century when it was a part of the local railway system. Look out for its foodie events and beer festivals. Taylor Swift was once spotted here in the company of Ed Sheeran.

Framingham’s very own ‘Neighbourhood Italian’. Watson & Walpole (co-proprietors, Rob Walpole and Ruth and David Watson) serves quality authentic Italian food at moderate cost in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Lunches and suppers are served five days a week. The restaurant also has its own adjacent, relaxed cocktail bar – Beviamo. Children and a limited number of dogs are welcome at lunch, but only adults and children over 10 for dinner. Vegetarians and vegans welcome (advise dietary differences when booking).
